In accordance with the
traditions of Scottish heraldry, the arms are based on the oldest
records of arms associated with the name Williamson. The personal
charges on the shield, namely the anchor and balance pans and the
mercantile crown, represent the armiger’s dual maritime and legal
professional background and his involvement in maritime commerce.
The armiger is a Fellow
of the Nautical Institute, Fellow of the Energy Institute, Fellow of
the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Fellow of the Society of
Antiquaries of Scotland, Associate Fellow of the Royal Meteorological
Society, Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation,
Honorary Member of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors,
Member of the Academy of Experts, Member of the Baltic Exchange,
Member of the British Maritime Law Association, Member of the Civil
Mediation Council, Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators
Association, Member of the London Court of International Arbitration,
Member of the Heraldry Society of Scotland.
The armiger is a Master Mariner, a Chartered Arbitrator, an Accredited
Mediator and formerly a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and
Wales. He is active internationally as arbitrator, mediator and expert
