Originally a church property the Barony was re-erected separating it from the Barony of Auchintoull, by Charles II in a charter of novodamus under the Great Seal dated 24 August 1663. Located mid-way between Huntly and Banff, the original Barony of Yeochrie was bordered by Aberchirder to the South West, Yeochrie House, and Kinnardy Castle overlooking the Deveron River to the South East, Auchintoll House to the North East and Cornehill Crofts to the West.

The armiger was asked, by the then Lord Lyon, if he would like a design based upon the arms of Jacob, Jacob R (James II) or the Stuart of Bute ancient sept of Jacobi now rendered Jamieson (see Blacks Surnames of Scotland) or if he wished to submit an heraldic design based upon personal achievements; he elected to devise arms based upon a combination of ancient arms, family records and person achievements.

The Cross represents a Ph.D. degree in Comparative Religion with Ministerial Certificate to the Chaplain Corp of the U.S. Military and Academic Life Teaching Credential. The Wings to signify Command Pilot (ATPL) for U.S. licensed International Airlines and the U.S. Department of Defence. The Scales of Justice represent an LL.B (Law degree) with CREB land conveyance licensing and Professional Bar Association membership.

The pelican in her piety crest was taken from the ancient arms of Stuart, Moffat and Jacobi of Ecolm. The pelican was ducally gorged to show emanate reverence to the patron saint of the Stewarts, Sancti Jacobi (St. James).
